It can edit the note, create notes and folders, and organize your work. ## What You Can Do ### Discuss before changing the note Ask for ideas, comparisons, feedback, reviews, or research when you want advice first. AI Assistant replies in chat and leaves your note unchanged. Once you choose what to keep, ask it to add that content to the note. When you ask AI Assistant to draft, write, edit, or fix the note directly, it can make the requested change. You can also tell it to confirm with you before writing. ### Edit and organize notes Ask AI Assistant to draft or revise text, or to handle these actions: * Create a note or folder * Rename the current note * Move the current note to another folder ### Use a Topic Select a Topic to add instructions for a particular document type to the conversation. Inki may set a Topic automatically in an empty note based on what you enter. Before sending the next message, you can undo the selection from the notice that appears. ### Attach files You can attach up to 5 files per chat, with a combined limit of 512MB. * Images, video, and audio * PDFs, up to 1,000 pages per file * Office files (`.docx`, `.xlsx`, and `.pptx`) * Text files (`.md`, `.markdown`, `.txt`, `.csv`, `.html`, and `.htm`), up to 20,000 characters per file Each video can be up to 10 minutes, and each audio file can be up to 2 hours. You can preview text, images, PDFs, audio, and video before sending. You can attach Office files, but they don't have previews. ### Search the web When your request needs current or source-backed information, AI Assistant can search the web and use the results in its response. ### Get help with Inki Ask how a feature works or where to find a setting. AI Assistant answers from Inki's public documentation. ## Review Changes and Restore Safely Edits to your note appear as diffs. A restore action appears when Inki can safely identify the original content. It may not appear after later edits or when the original state can no longer be restored safely. ## Edit Long Notes AI Assistant can focus on a specific section of a long note instead of replacing the whole note. Give it a clear target, such as "Shorten only the conclusion," to keep the change focused. If Inki can't edit the whole note safely, it keeps the existing text and suggests splitting the request, reloading the page, or trying the instruction again. ## How to Use 1. Click the "Chat" button 2. Enter what you need 3. Review the response and any changes to your note 4. Add another instruction if needed. If a restore action is available, you can also return to the original content ## Model and Reasoning Settings You can change the model and reasoning level. See [Models and Reasoning](/en/features/models) for the available options and setup steps. # AI Editing Source: https://docs.inki.so/en/features/ai-editing Rewrite selected text for a specific purpose ## Overview Rewrite selected text for clarity, length, or tone while keeping its meaning intact. ## How to Use 1. Select the text you want to edit 2. Choose an editing option 3. Review the suggested text 4. Apply or copy it ### Editing options * `Smart rewrite`: Improve clarity while preserving the meaning * `Shorten`: Remove repetition and extra words * `Lengthen`: Add explanation based on the selected text * `Revise`: Fix grammar and typos * `Deslop`: Reduce generic or exaggerated AI-style phrasing ### Custom editing with Cmd+J Select text and press `Cmd+J` to open the custom instruction field. Enter a specific request, such as "Make this concise while keeping the formal tone." ## Choose a Model You can change the model used for AI Editing. See [Models and Reasoning](/en/features/models) for the available models. ## AI Editing vs. Rephrase Rephrase is designed for short passages and gives you several alternatives. Use AI Editing when you want to adjust length, revise text, or give a custom instruction for the selected passage. ## Editing Example `Smart rewrite` can change "The meeting will take place on Tuesday next week" to "The meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday." The meaning stays the same, but the sentence is more direct. Before applying a suggestion, check that it preserves your intent and facts. # Inline Generation Source: https://docs.inki.so/en/features/inline-generation Give an instruction and generate text inside the editor ## Overview Enter an instruction and generate text where you're writing, without leaving the editor. ## How to Use On an empty line, press `Tab` or click "Generate text." Mid-sentence, press `/` or `Cmd+J`. On a touch device, tap the prompt shown on an empty line. 1. Change the model if needed 2. Enter what you want to generate 3. Press `Enter` to start Press `Esc` to stop. Press `Space` right after `/` to exit Inline Generation and return to regular typing. ### Cmd+J Shortcut The `/` shortcut requires a half-width slash, which may mean switching input modes when typing in Japanese. `Cmd+J` works in any input mode. ## Choose a Model Inline Generation remembers your selected model for the next time you use it. See [Models and Reasoning](/en/features/models) for details about each option. ## Work with the Result * `Apply`: Add the generated text to your note * `Copy`: Copy the generated text to your clipboard * `Cancel`: Discard the result You can also enter a follow-up instruction and generate another version. ## Helpful Features Related instructions appear as you type, and you can select one with `Tab`. Open the model menu for the feature and select the model that fits your task. Inki keeps your last selection for the next request. Choose the model for Review in the Review section of Settings. The review model and custom instructions are separate settings. Available models may change over time. Check the model menu in each feature for the current list. ## Auto Choose Auto when you don't want to pick a model yourself. Auto uses a recommended model available on your current plan. ## Models and Plans Most models are available on every plan. Claude Opus models and GPT-5.6 Sol require a Pro or Max plan. Models that aren't available on your current plan appear locked in the model menu. See [Plans & Pricing](/en/plans-pricing) for plan details. ## Choose a Reasoning Level When the selected AI Assistant model supports it, the model menu shows a Reasoning setting. Choose Low, Medium, High, or Max to control how much reasoning the model can use for the next response. Inki keeps your selection for later responses. The available levels depend on the model. Choose from the levels shown in the menu. # Notes and Folders Source: https://docs.inki.so/en/features/notebook Create, organize, share, and manage notes ## Overview Inki lets you create notes and organize them in folders when needed. You can rename a folder from its folder page. ## Custom Instructions Add custom instructions for the AI Assistant to each folder. **Examples**: * "Write casually without formal language" * "Prefer English for technical terms" You can edit custom instructions later from the folder page. ## Share and Manage Notes ### Sharing Share a note with a link. ### Update History Open the update history to view earlier content and restore it when needed. ### Tables Add tables to a note, then edit their rows and columns. ## Trash Deleted notes and folders move to Trash and are permanently deleted after 30 days. You can restore them before then. You can also delete items permanently or empty Trash. # Rephrase Source: https://docs.inki.so/en/features/rephrase Get multiple ways to say the same thing ## Overview AI automatically suggests different ways to say selected text. ## How to Use 1. Select text you want to rephrase 2. Multiple options appear in a popover 3. Click the best one 4. Text updates automatically ## When to Use Rephrase vs AI Editing Rephrase is best for quick rewording of short phrases with multiple options. AI Editing handles detailed edits like improving expressions, adjusting length, proofreading, or custom instructions. ## Use Cases * **"Very good"** → "Excellent" / "Outstanding" / "Superb" * **"He quickly walked to the station"** → "He hurried to the station" / "He rushed to the station" / "He headed swiftly to the station" * **"Could you review this document"** → "Would you mind reviewing this document" / "I'd appreciate your review of this document" / "Please take a look at this document" ## Benefits Find better expressions fast. Click the Review button. You can also set a focus, such as "Review this for SEO" 2. Review the suggestion cards in the sidebar 3. Click a card to jump to the relevant section 4. Reply to the suggestion and request a change if needed 5. Mark the suggestion as "Resolved" when you're done ## Customize Settings has two separate options for Review: * The model used for reviews * Custom instructions added to each review, such as "Check whether this works as a business document" See [Models and Reasoning](/en/features/models) for details about the available models. ## Fact-checking and Sources Review can search the web when a claim needs verification. It prioritizes noting claims it couldn't verify and presenting sources based on the pages it consulted. ## Review vs. AI Editing * **Review**: Checks the whole note and lists several areas to improve * **AI Editing**: Edits selected text on the spot based on your instruction # Inki Documentation Source: https://docs.inki.so/en/getting-started/introduction ## What is Inki Inki is an AI writing assistant that helps you write better, faster.
