Overview

Inki lets you create notes and organize them in folders when needed. You can also use notes without creating a folder.

Create a Note

  1. Click “New note” in the sidebar
  2. Enter a title and start writing

Organize Notes in Folders

  1. Click “New folder” in the sidebar
  2. Enter a folder name
  3. Add custom instructions if needed
Folders support one level only. You can’t create a folder inside another folder. In the sidebar, move notes into folders and reorder your notes and folders. You can rename a folder from its folder page.

Custom Instructions

Add custom instructions for the AI Assistant to each folder. Examples:
  • “Write casually without formal language”
  • “Prefer English for technical terms”
You can edit custom instructions later from the folder page.

Share and Manage Notes

Sharing

  1. Open the note and click “More” > “Share” at the top
  2. Change “Private” to “Public”
  3. Click “Copy link” and send the link to the people you want to share with
Anyone with the link can view a public note. You can’t publish a note with an empty body. To stop sharing, change the note to “Private” in the same dialog, then click “Turn off” in the confirmation dialog. The share link will no longer work.

Version History

  1. Click “More” > “History” at the top of the note
  2. Select a date and time from the history list
  3. Review the preview, then click “Restore this version” to restore it
Restoring replaces the current note body with the selected version. To view earlier content without restoring it, close the preview.

Export

  1. Open the note and click “More” > “Export” at the top
  2. Choose “HTML”, “Markdown”, or “PDF”
HTML and Markdown download as files. If the note contains images, the download is a ZIP file containing the text and images. In a desktop browser, choosing PDF opens the print dialog. Select a PDF destination, such as “Save as PDF”, and save the file.

Insert an Image

In a desktop browser, you can add a PNG, JPEG, or another image from your computer to the note body.
  1. Create an empty line where you want the image and type /
  2. Choose “Image” from the menu
  3. Click “Upload image” in the note body and choose a file
  4. Wait for the upload to finish and the image to appear in the note
Each image can be up to 25MB. To create an image with AI, see Inline Generation.

Tables

Add tables to a note, then edit their rows and columns.

Trash

Deleted notes and folders move to Trash and are permanently deleted after 30 days. You can restore them before then. You can also delete items permanently or empty Trash.
