  2. Sign up with email, Google, or Apple
  3. Complete your profile and plan setup, then start writing
In a desktop browser or the Mac app, “How did you hear about Inki?” appears after you choose what you write. Choose one option to continue to plan selection. If you choose “Other,” you can add an optional explanation, then click “Next.” Choose “Skip” to continue without answering. The same steps apply if you continue setup in a mobile browser. In the iOS app (version 1.0.15 or later), confirm your name, choose what you write, answer how you heard about Inki, and choose a plan. The name step is skipped when your Google name is available. You can select several writing purposes, then tap “Next”, or tap “Skip”. Answer or skip “How did you hear about Inki?” as described above. To change your profile picture, open your profile in Settings after setup. In the iOS app from version 1.0.19, plan selection after signup offers Pro and Light with monthly billing. To start on Free, tap the “×” in the upper-right corner. You get 100 credits a month without the separate 500-credit trial. See Plans & Pricing for the App Store free trial and its terms. If you sign up in a browser on an iPhone or iPad, you’ll see a page to download the iOS app. Install it from the App Store and log in using the same method you used to sign up. Complete your profile and plan setup in the app. After completing profile and plan setup in a mobile browser, you’ll see instructions for using Inki on a computer. To keep writing on your phone, tap “Continue on this phone”. When you use a computer, log in with the same method you used to sign up.

Choose Where to Write

Use Inki in a desktop or mobile browser. On iPhone, you can also use the iOS app. An Android app is planned; until then, use the mobile browser on Android. In a mobile browser, tap the sidebar button in the upper-left to open your notes and folders. If you use a Mac, you can also download the Mac app. The iOS app requires version 1.0.10 or later. If you’re asked to update, install the latest version from the App Store. If the iOS app (version 1.0.18 or later) shows “Can’t connect to Inki” at startup, wait for the connection to return or tap “Try again”. The app resumes automatically when connectivity returns. You can also choose “Sign in with another account” to open the login screen.

2. Create a Folder When Needed

Folders organize related notes. You can start writing without creating one.
  1. Click “New folder” in the sidebar
  2. Enter a folder name
  3. Add custom instructions if needed

Try AI Features

Inki has several AI features to help you write. Try them as you go. In a desktop browser or the Mac app, open the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Help > Try AI. Choose “Try the first one” or an item in the list. Cards in the lower-left of the note guide you through rephrasing, rewriting, generating a continuation, checking text, and asking the assistant. The guide is available in a wide desktop window. After finishing, use the same menu to revisit the illustrations and instructions. In the iOS app (version 1.0.18 or later) or a mobile browser, open Settings > Try AI to try rephrasing, rewriting, generating a continuation, and asking the assistant.
