AI Editing is built for revising text in your note. Select a passage to improve clarity, change its length, or adjust its tone while keeping its meaning and surrounding context. You review the suggestion before applying it.Edit Text

- Apply or copy it
Cmd+Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) immediately to restore it without generating it again.

Custom editing with Cmd+J
Select text and pressCmd+J to open the custom instruction field. Enter a specific request, such as “Make this concise while keeping the formal tone.”
Choose a Model

Rephrase is designed for short passages and gives you several alternatives. Use AI Editing when you want to adjust length, revise text, or give a custom instruction for the selected passage.Editing Example
Smart rewrite can change “The meeting will take place on Tuesday next week” to “The meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday.” The meaning stays the same, but the sentence is more direct. Before applying a suggestion, check that it preserves your intent and facts.
Generate an Image in Your Note
On the desktop web app, create an image from a prompt at the place where you want it to appear, review the result, then insert it into your note.- Open the
+menu or type/in your note, then chooseGenerate image - Describe the image you want, such as “A wide view of the ocean at sunset”
- Review the generated image
- Enter another instruction if you want to adjust the result
- Choose

Cancel or Esc aren’t restored. The generation placeholder and result are visible only to the person who started the request. Collaborators see an empty placeholder.
Adjust an Image That Supports Your Writing
When an image in your note needs to match the writing better, you can adjust it without leaving the editor. Keep the text in view while you describe the change, review the preview, then decide whether to replace the original.- Select or hover over an image to show its toolbar, then choose
Edit - Enter a free-form instruction, such as “Change the background to a sunset”
- Review the generated image preview
- Enter additional instructions if you want to refine the result
- Choose

Replace with this image. It also stays unchanged if the edit fails.
Image editing requirements
- You can edit images uploaded to a note or created in Inki and inserted into a note. Images from external links cannot be edited.
- PNG, JPEG, and GIF source images are supported. GIFs are edited as a still image using their first frame.
- Each instruction creates one PNG result image. Inki automatically chooses a square, landscape, or portrait result closest to the original image’s aspect ratio.
